Ancient Bath Houses

I wanted to share a couple of pictures of some beautiful bath houses that were created by the ancient Romans in Bath, England. Bath houses were called Thermae which from Greek  word thermos, means “hot”.

The bath houses contained many chambers ranging from really hot to cooler chambers. The Thermae contained a hot room much like a sauna. Each visitor would enter each room. The Thermae also contained pools and a gym like area. Each visitor was given the royal treatment by slaves who catered to them and did everything from taking their clothes to oiling them down with olive oil and herbs. The ancient Romans believed that baths promoted good health.

The architecture is amazing! It took a lot of engineering to carefully construct each room with the ducts and pipes needed to control the temperatures and to fill the baths.

As my business expands, I plan on traveling to to see the these remarkable pieces of spa history.
